A New Radio Station Launched in Tulsa, Oklahoma

The Greenwood Beat is a new addition to Tulsa-based radio stations and launched  on 8th June 2023. The radio station has announced a brief list of upcoming programs that will focus on community-focused topics.

Francetta L. Mays from Oklahoma City, who is currently residing in Tulsa City has joined the radio station as the co-host of the show Refocused & Informed Radio Talk Show.

The Greenwood Beat – WFPG is set up in the Greenwood district of Tulsa which was historically famous as the Black Wall Street. The local station will be the voice of the community and focus on justice and other prevalent problems and their solutions.

The station officially launched on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 12:00 PM CST and will be accessible through the website https://thegreenwoodbeat.com/, and other platforms.

Programming Highlights

The new station has announced the following programs so far:

  1. Francetta L. Mays of Oklahoma City joins host Angela K. Chambers as a co-host on Refocused & Informed Radio Talk Show. Starting June 8th, the show will feature special guests and eye-opening discussions on the justice system and other pressing topics. It will broadcast every Thursday from 2-3 PM CST.

  2. Carle King II (The Maestro) is the host of The Quiet Storm: Magic After Dark that will broadcast on Saturdays at 7 PM.

  3. Pokie Phifer will host Independent Artist Review Radio Talk Show every Friday at 7 PM to help promote musical talent.

  4. Bro. Alvin Muhammad will go live on Sundays at 1:30 PM with A Trumpet on Greenwood where he will bring unique perspectives.

  5. A show about the Historical Greenwood Chamber of Commerce is in discussion.

The Greenwood Beat – WFPG was formed in honor of Wilma Phifer Green “Grandma Tee” and officially launched on June 8, 2023. The station will offer 24/7 programming soon.
